Minister Nash expresses shock and sadness at fatal shootings in Co Louth

Minister for Business & Employment Ged Nash TD has expressed his shock and sadness at the fatal shooting which took place in Co Louth this evening (Sun 11th October).
“I am shocked to learn about the appalling loss of life which occurred on the Cooley Peninsula near Omeath in Co Louth this evening. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the families and friends of those who were involved in the shocking incident which took place at around 6pm.”
It’s understood that a garda was called to the scene of a domestic incident near Omeath this evening when the shooting occurred. Two men, including the garda, were fatally injured at the scene while another adult woman sustained serious injuries.
Minister Nash continued, "That a Garda could report to work today and then never make it home is a sobering reminder of the fact that these men and women risk their very lives protecting all of us and keeping the peace across our country. I would like to extend my sincere sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues in an Garda Siochana.”
