So who will you go into Government with Micheál?

3 December 2015

Spokesperson on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform

Martin gets ratty about the simplest of questions on RTE. On radio yesterday Micheal Martin declared he wouldn’t go into Government with Sinn Fein. He has indicated previously that he won’t go into Government with Fine Gael.

Who will he go into Government with?

Is he deluded enough to think he can win an election on this own?

Why should people vote for him when he has no intention of implementing his policies at all?

Isn’t it the responsibility of the Opposition to offer the people a choice?

Declaring who you think you are policy compatible with is hardly a big ask.

The truth is that Fianna Fáil and Sinn Fein are falling over themselves to excuse themselves from the responsibility of governing. They want to put their parties first. It is what we expect from the independents but it is now infecting the main opposition parties.

Micheal Martin decries those who say there is only one Government option offering itself for election. He alone is responsible for that. And he has the temerity to get ratty when asked this simple question.

It is undoubtedly some form of relief for the public who remember what Fianna Fail did in office before 2011. They destroyed the economy, when things got tough Micheál himself walked off the pitch, and they aren’t even sorry for the misery they inflicted on the country. His arrogance knows no bounds.
