ALLOCATION OF ADDITIONAL GARDAÍ WELCOME - NASH

Senator Ged Nash has welcomed the deployment of additional Gardaí to the town.
He said;
“This deployment is very welcome and will enable the over-stretched Local Gardaí to get into the faces of those responsible for the mayhem on the streets of our town.
“The laboured response by the government and the Commissioner has been truly shocking
“It is sad that it took an enormous public lobbying campaign, a terrifying gun attack at Hardman’s Gardens and repeated pressure from myself and others to make sure that the government deployed additional Gardaí to Drogheda.
“It is crucial that this deployment is permanent and that numbers continue to improve and not diminish if and when this current wave of criminal activity ultimately dissipates.
“Drogheda should not be policed in the basis that this government still thinks it’s a small regional town. It needs the resources its size, scale and significance demands.”
