GED NASH STATEMENT FOLLOWING MEETING WITH ENTERPRISE MINISTER PETER BURKE TD
4 July 2024
This afternoon’s meeting with Minister Burke and IDA officials was useful. The Minister will be in the US on a trade mission later in July. A meeting with BD was already on his agenda.
I asked him to make a request of the company to review their decision. Every job counts and nothing should be conceded. Subsequent to that meeting he agreed this afternoon, on the floor of the Dail, to meet with SIPTU.
BD is Drogheda’s only large scale IDA-backed manufacturing plant. Drogheda is an IDA backwater and they, and this government, need to up their game on investment in Drogheda.
They should start by agreeing to my proposal for a Jobs & Enterprise Task Force to be established and I will press that home in a meeting with the Taoiseach next week.
Ends.
